Maintenance - Trouble shoot Guide

At our agency, we understand that when maintenance is needed, you want it addressed promptly. Often, simple troubleshooting can resolve the issue immediately, avoiding unnecessary delays and call out fees. Below is a guide to help tenants assess common issues before submitting a maintenance request.

Electrical/Appliance Issues

No power:

  • Check if the outage is affecting the entire street. If so, contact your power provider.
  • If living in an apartment or townhouse, confirm if the issue affects the whole complex. If so, contact the Body Corporate manager.
  • Check the safety switch in the fuse/meter box and reset it if needed. If it trips again, do not attempt to reset.
  • Unplug all appliances and plug them back in one by one to identify if a faulty device is causing the issue.

Lights or Powerpoints not working:

  • Check the safety switch and reset it if necessary.
  • Test the appliance in another power socket to confirm if the appliance is faulty.

Stove/Oven not working:

  • Ensure electricity or gas is connected to the property.
  • Check if the isolation switch near the cooktop/oven is turned on.
  • For some ovens, the timer/clock must be set for operation.

Washing Machine not working:

  • Ensure it is plugged in and taps are turned on.
  • Check for overload or unbalanced loads.
  • Ensure the lid/door is properly closed.

Dyer not working:

  • Ensure it is plugged in and switched on.
  • Clean the lint filter, as excess lint can cause the machine to shut down.
  • Ensure the door safety switch is fully engaged.

Garage Remote not working:

  • Replace remote control batteries.
  • Ensure the motor is plugged in and powered.
  • Check that the manual override lever is properly engaged.
  • Ensure nothing is obstructing the door’s movement.
